tbootstrap — newroot as podman image
Build a podman image from the installed rootfs (NEWROOT, default $HOME/newroot) and run it.
Build all example
podman run --rm -v /home/tlnx:/root -w /root/rpms tlnx-build tbootstrap/tbootstrap.sh install_all
Enter newroot without root
Instead of a privileged chroot, use user+mount namespaces:
unshare -Ur /usr/sbin/chroot newroot
Run from the directory that contains newroot (e.g. $HOME), or pass an absolute path.
Build image
From /home/tlnx/rpms (host):
tbootstrap/tbootstrap.sh image
Defaults: NEWROOT=$HOME/newroot, tag TLNX_IMAGE=tlnx:newroot. Override if needed:
NEWROOT=/path/to/rootfs TLNX_IMAGE=tlnx:latest tbootstrap/tbootstrap.sh image
Run container
Interactive shell (CMD is /bin/bash):
podman run -it --rm tlnx:newroot
One-shot command:
podman run --rm tlnx:newroot /bin/bash -c 'rpm -qa | sort'
